BBC Radio 5 and City's official website are both reporting that the Eto'o deal is dead in the water. However, our source gets the feeling that this deal isn't finished quite yet.
Complications with the deal lie with Eto'o and Barcelona over a loyalty clause within his current contract. Eto'o would receive €13m in the event Barcelona state they wish to sell. Eto'o would forgo the payment if he stated he wished to be transferred. Neither party wants to lose out financially hence stalemate.
By stating their wish to pull out of the deal, City have in effect forced the hand of both Eto'o and Barca. They've also demonstrated that City will not be taken for cash-rich fools.
Let's see how this one plays out.

I couldn't give a flying duck.
Hope this doesn't affect the Tevez deal. Getting a bit worried now.
