Cup Clash, City v Man Yoo : Word On The Street

Liverpool v Man City

Liverpool and Man City fought out a drab draw at Anfield, with neither team providing evidence that they are top 4 material.

The game erupted into life with four 2nd half goals after a sleep-inducing first 45 minutes. Both Hughes and Benitez will have reason however to see a draw as two points lost.

Liverpool had already lost Agger and Babel to injury when Skrtel turned in Gerrard's free-kick to give them the lead after 50 mins.

But City, encouraged by Liverpool's apparent willingness to sit back on their advantage and enlivened by the belated introduction of Tevez for Barry, levelled on 69 mins when Adebayor headed home from Bellamy's corner.

Ireland's close-range finish, converted as Liverpool appealed in vain for offside, gave City a lead they barely deserved, but they were then guilty of a loss of concentration as Benayoun turned in Ngog's deflected cross to make sure the points were shared.

Lucas wasted a glorious chance to give Liverpool victory deep into stoppage time when he rose unmarked to meet Gerrard's corner, only to head wide.

It ensured City, who lost captain Toure injured at half-time, extended their recent sequence to six successive League draws, equalling their top-flight record set in 1913.

And for Liverpool, it was the latest day of frustration in front of their own fans at Anfield - compounded by another lengthening of their injury list.

City had hoped to use a visit to Liverpool to confirm their credentials as genuine challengers to the League's established order, but a lifeless first hour and the resurfacing of defensive frailties demonstrated there is still much work to do.

Liverpool captain Gerrard, as expected, was fit after the groin injury that has troubled him recently, but once again Torres was ruled out by a hernia.

City boss Hughes left Tevez on the bench - and how the visitors cried out for his industry and inspiration in a turgid opening 45 minutes.

Liverpool had the first chance to make a breakthrough after only six minutes, but Skrtel's header was turned to safety by Given after Gerrard's delivery had flicked off the head of Toure.

It proved to be an expensive moment for Liverpool as Agger clashed heads with Toure in the incident and was stretchered off with concussion, forcing Benitez to introduce Greek defender Kyrgiakos.

As if Liverpool's injury list was not long enough, Babel then saw a rare Anfield start curtailed by a foot injury after he accidentally collided with Gerrard on the edge of the City penalty area. He attempted to continue but eventually limped off, to be replaced by Benayoun.

Gerrard, predictably, was providing Liverpool's best hope and he almost enlivened the grim proceedings with a rising shot that flew over in front of an expectant Kop.

City, for all their lavish spending, were woefully short of attacking ideas, with SWP being particularly wasteful in possession. He had their best opportunity 10 minutes before the interval when he was played in just inside the Liverpool area, but he failed to hit the target.

City suffered an injury blow themselves when captain Toure failed to appear at the start of the second half, with Onuoha coming on.

And their problems increased after 50 minutes when Skrtel took advantage of poor City defending - an Achilles heel this season - to give Liverpool the lead.

Zabaleta was penalised for fouling Ngog, and when Gerrard's free-kick was swerved in with menace, Skrtel got ahead of Adebayor to apply the crucial final touch and grab his first Liverpool goal.

Hughes having watched in frustration as his side failed to make any impact on Liverpool's re-shaped defence, made a change on the hour when he sent on Tevez for Barry.

Liverpool had helped City's cause by appearing to sit back on their lead, and they paid the penalty in familiar fashion after 69 minutes.

Adebayor was allowed to rise unhindered and direct Bellamy's corner past Liverpool keeper Reina, to the obvious disgust of Benitez in the technical area and delight of Hughes.

And the turnaround was complete with 14 minutes left as Ireland stole in on a cross from SWP from a suspiciously offside position to put City ahead - but as their fans celebrated there was another swift twist in the tale.

Ngog's cross took a deflection that took Given out of position, allowing Benayoun to slide in at the far post and score with the simplest of finishes.

Liverpool held sway in the closing stages and forced a succession of corners, with Lucas heading a presentable chance wide with virtually the final action of a game that sparked into life after the break.

Final Score : Liverpool 2 - Man City 2.

Man City v Burnley

This wasn't supposed to happen. Kevin McDonald earned Burnley a deserved point at Manchester City. The midfielder netted in the dying moments of the game to salvage Burnley a first point away from Turf Moor.

oh feck, not again!

Graham Alexander put the Clarets ahead from the spot when Jolean Lescott handled a Tyrone Mears cross.

Steven Fletcher doubled the lead, tapping into an open net after a delightful ball across the box from Chris Eagles.

Shaun Wright-Phillips got City back into the game when his shot took a deflection of Steven Jordan before Kolo Toure equalised just after half-time.

Craig Bellamy then put the hosts ahead beating Jensen after great work from Wright-Phillips.

But Kevin McDonald on as a substitute had the final say, a floated ball from Nugent found Steven Fletcher at the far post who headed back across goal for McDonald to place past Shay Given.

Birmingham City v Man City

An impenetrable Shay Given almost single handedly earned the stuttering Blues their point at St. Andrews. The Irish wonder goalie yet again produced a fine individual performance and so saved City's bacon as well as McFadden's second half spot-kick.

Ye shall not pass

City will be disappointed with the result but chuffed with the clean sheet. That's now a draw in each of our last 4 premiership fixtures. A total of 3-points from the Wigan, Fulham and Birmingham games simply ain't good enough. We are now expected to pulverise such teams.

The first half ebbed and flowed with neither team able to gain the upper hand, though the Brummies had the better opportunities. Benitez almost gave the hosts the lead on the 9th minute from 20-yards only to see Given tip his effort onto the post. Given's heroics would continue throughout the encounter.

City's best 1st half opportunity fell to RSC after good play from Tevez and SWP down the right wing. His point blank effort was saved by the Birmingham keeper, who was untroubled for the majority of the game.

10-minutes into the 2nd half saw the home side being awarded a penalty. The referee adjudged De Jong to have handled the ball in the area as he made an aerial challenge. Super Given to the rescue as McFadden spot-shot is thwarted. Hoorar!

Ireland then came on to replace De Jong and the opposition changed the distraught McFadden for Fahey. Birmingham however remained the dominant team and City continued their lacklustre display.

Barry Ferguson was sent off in injury time after knocking the ball out of Zabaleta's hands as he attempted a throw-in.

City v Fulham

City let slip a 2-goal lead and 2 valuable points against their bogey team Fulham. Lescott had grabbed his first goal for the blues and Petrov increased the advantage before the visitors struck back for a share of the spoils.

Joleon's joy was short-lived

The game also saw a contender for miss of the century as Zamora blazed over with the goal gapping early into the second half. Moments later City were to take the lead, which should have enabled City to take all the points. Fulham however were quick to respond with Duff and Dempsey firing them level.

Both sides pressed for a winner, with City looking the more likely, but Fulham duly hung on for a well-deserved point.

Even in the early stages the visitors showed plenty of menace on the counter-attack with Zamora looking dangerous.

Tevez came close with a scuffed a low shot which bobbled just past Schwarzer's post.

City had half chances with Adebayor seeing a penalty claim turned down after tumbling under Kelly's challenge, Toure heading over and De Jong forcing a diving save from Schwarzer.

But the visitors were intent on building on their fine recent record at City, with Greening serving a timely reminder by shooting inches wide on the half-hour.

Tevez came closest for Citye in the 33rd minute when he rose unchallenged to meet Petrov's corner from the right but flashed his header onto the top of the net.

Adebayor also missed by inches four minutes from the break and moments later Richards headed home a Petrov corner - only for referee Kevin Friend to blow for a foul by Barry on Chris Baird.

Zamora was guilty of one a miss magnifique on 47 minutes when Dempsey's initial shot was parried by Given and the striker somehow screwed the rebound over the bar from six yards.

City responded by going in front in the 53rd minute when Barry nudged a Bellamy corner across to Adebayor and his weak shot was helped over the line by Lescott.

When City grabbed their second on the hour it seemed like plain sailing, Bridge feeding Petrov from the right and the midfielder curling an excellent effort past Schwarzer.

But Hodgson's men were far from sunk and they struck back just two minutes later when Zamora chested down a ball from Kelly and Duff shot home from the edge of the box.

A remarkable game took its further bizarre twist in the 67th minute when Dempsey fired Fulham level after finding space to meet Greening's free-kick in the box.

Tempers flared in the 70th minute when Dempsey fell on the edge of the City box but referee Kevin Friend waved play-on and sub SWP streaked up-field and force a save from Schwarzer.

For a time it seemed Fulham were set to repeat their comeback heroics of 2008 with Zamora shooting just wide then bringing another save from Given.

City ended the game looking more likely with Barry heading just wide, but even five extra minutes of injury time could not provide Hughes with the win he desperately wanted.

Wigan v Man City

Martin Petrov gained Man City a hard earned point at the DW Stadium against a resilient Wigan outfit. The Blues displayed a spirited performance as they came from behind and played the final 30-minutes with 10-men after the dismissal of Zabaleta.

Having dictated most of the play during the 1st half, City fell behind just before the interval. Given could only parry Rodallega's fierce shot for the on rushing N'Zogbia to fire home.

It only took 1-minute into the 2nd half for City to grab the equaliser. Tevez produced fine work down the right and his cross fell to 'cold-hands' Petrov, who accurately dispatched his shot past Kirkland.

City looked certain to take the lead only for Bramble (yes Bramble!) to finely tackle Adebayor then for Kirkland to tip over the follow-up strike by SWP.

City should have then been awarded a penalty when SWP was up-ended by Figueroa, though somehow the referee deemed it was a clean challenge.

However, City's prospects suffered a setback when Zabaleta was dismissed for a second bookable offence, which allowed the hosts to take the game to City.

Diame sent a shot inches just high of the City goal, while Martinez brought on the creative Gomez to try to unlock the resolute City rear-guard.

But despite Rodallega having a far post stabbed shot saved late on, City fended off the Pie Munchers to stay fifth in the table.

Final Score : Wigan 1 Man City 1.

Villa v City

Craig Bellamy's 2nd half equaliser earned City a much deserved point and lifted them to 4th in the league after former captain Richard Dunne had put the home side in front on the quarter hour. Dunne held back his urge to celebrate in front of the away support when he out-jumped Barry to Milner's corner to bullet head Villa into an early lead.

Dunne could have added to his tally before City's growing superiority was rewarded when Bellamy turned Adebayor's cross into the roof of the net beyond Friedel on 67 minutes. A most bodacious goal.

City looked the more likely to claim the three points in the later stages of an rip roaring encounter between two clubs with high ambitions.

The game began with Villa in the ascendancy and they almost opened the scoring inside two minutes. Collins touched on Young's corner and Given was forced to scramble in front of Carew to save with his legs at the near post. City responded with Adebayor almost cashing in on slick exchange play between Bridge and Bellamy.

The Brummies broke the deadlock on 15 minutes, and it was a goal heavily laced with irony as it was Dunne who rose above Gaz Baz to head powerfully beyond Given. The Dunney Monster repaid the respect shown to him by City's fans before kick-off by declining to show his joy as he was congratulated by his team mates.

City searched for the equaliser, and Tevez tested Friedel with a long range rocket, which flew straight into the arms of the American shot stopper. De Jong was booked 10-minutes before the interval after a crunching tackle on the dangerous Young, who was never the same threat again.

The lingering ill-feeling surrounding Barry's summer switch was illustrated when he went towards the touchline to take a free-kick, only to be greeted by an angry Villa fan waving fake £50 banknotes with Barry's face printed on them.

Ireland replaced De Jong in the 58th minute, which signaled Hughes' intent for City to go further on the front foot.

Dunne, not exactly renowned as a marksman, almost doubled his tally with a replica of his first goal after 58 minutes. He met another Milner corner with his head, with Barry again beaten, but this time his downward header fell wide.

City made the most of the reprieve with an equaliser on 67 minutes in a passage of the game that provided the perfect illustration of the attacking riches at their disposal.

The jet propelled Bellamy lashed a finish high past Friedel on the turn after marvelous approach play from Ireland and Adebayor. RSC then came on for the fading Tevez. City's reaction after the break had been impressive, and the arrival of Ireland had provided more creativity in midfield. The game played out with some end to end stuff but neither team could manage to force the winner.

A fair result at 1-1.

Villa v City Preview

Tonight sees City visit Aston Villa for what should be a difficult but entertaining encounter. Both teams have realistic aims to challenge for a Champions League position this season, so the two will be determined to prevail this evening.

Villa should have former City captain Dunne in a central defensive position, whilst City will field Villa old boy Barry. Whilst Dunne will no doubt receive a good reception from the away support, the Villa fans are unlikely to welcome back Barry with open arms.

The game could be decided on how well the defences play. Both teams have strong attacking options, with plenty of width. Villa will look to use Milner and Young to feed man-mountain Carew and the jet-heeled Agbonlahor. City are likely to start with Adebayor, Tevez, SWP and Bellamy.....Dunne should be a worried man!

Emmanuel : Shafted Part 2

Emmanuel Adebayor today received his 2nd punishment in a month from the FA. He was charged for having the audicity to celebrate his goal in front of a rather sensitive Arse end. Adebayor was fined £25k for the misdemeanour, described by the FA as 'improper conduct' and given a suspended sentence. He'll therefore have to be a good boy until December 2010 or he'll once again feel the FA's wrath and be sidelined yet again.

The £25,000 'up-yours!' slide - well worth it!

City boss Mark Hughes had earlier stated that he didn't feel the celebration was worthy of any further sanction, following Adebayor's charge for violent conduct during the same fixture. The striker had accidently kicked Dick van Persie in the face and received a three match ban as City overcame the Gooners 4-2.

The Togolese international will now be available for selection for City's trip to Aston Villa on Monday. This is great news for Hughes, who now has the eager RSC as a target-man option too.

It won't be long before the squad is bolstered by a fit Robinho, Kompany and dare we say Johnson....... City are becoming even stronger!

City v Hammers

Scintillating City put on a fine display tonight to go level 3rd in the Premiership, three points behind the leaders with a game in hand.

The Super Blues got off to a flyer with tubby Tevez scoring after fine wizardry wing work from the productive Petrov. City then proceeded to dominate with some audacious build up play only for the eternal bubble blowers to equalise with Cole. The Hammers then forced the initiative for 10 minutes as City temporarily lost their midfield domination.

Manchester's finest regained the advantage with Petrov's ripsnorting 25 yard free kick, aided by a slight deflection. Half time couldn't arrive soon enough for the unhappy hammers, who were now struggling to cope with City's flairific forwards.

Half Time : 2-1 to City.

Zola's men began the 2nd half on the front foot, though created diddly squat in terms of scoring opportunities. City slowly began to re-establish themselves with Bellamy and Tevez working tirelessly. De Jong again standing out with his tenacity.

It's wasn't long before City extend their lead with Bellamy delivering a curvaceous free kick for Tevez to stoop unchallenged and head home past the grasping Green. Late on the vivacious crowd provided much cheer for RSC and Johnson as they replaced SWP and Barry respectively and the game was played out with City threatening further goals.

Fergie Time Costs City

'Fergie Time' strikes again! Baconchop's influence over the officials is becoming legendary. Back to that later.

After a shaky start and conceding early to a Rooney goal, City did well to level through Barry after tenacious work from Tevez. City then proceeded to gain the upper hand and Tevez almost grabbed City a deserved lead only for his effort to strike the upright.

The second half was a different story with Man Yoo pressing and Fletcher re-establishing Man Yoo's advantage. The busy Bellamy quicky brought about parity with a fine strike into the top corner. Fletcher then grabbed his 2nd and Man Yoo's 3rd, heading in from a free kick, very harshly awarded against Richards/SWP.

But City weren't done. Bellamy stuck again on 90-minutes after a defensive slip by Wio. The game was surely drawn, but no, we hadn't accounted for 'Fergie Time' i.e. that additional period of play which is given to the home side at Swamp Trafford when they're on the front foot. Richards fell into the 'Fergie Time' trap by going A.W.O.L. and allowing Owen an easy chance to win the game.

Bellamy rose in the estimation of many with his display, which was enhanced by his slapping of a Man Yoo yob who had strayed from the herd and onto the field of play after full-time. He'll surely be hearing from the FA and possible Greater Manchester Police very soon. The fuzz should instead concentrate on investigating how Garrido managed to be struck by a Blue seeking missile launched by the 'plastics' at half-time. The fact that he was walking beside Tevez at the time makes you wonder if the coin was instead intended for the diminutive Argentinian? Very sad.

After this disappointing set-back it will be interesting to see if City can show some bouncebackability against Fulham in the midweek Carling Cup tie.

Man Yoo v Man City Preview

Tomorrow sees City travel to Swamp Trafford in search of a 5th straight league win. The game promises to be an intensely fought encounter. City, so far undefeated in this seasons campaign, will be flying high on belief and will be confident of maintaining their 100% win record. Man Yoo will strive to bring the Super Blues down a peg or two and halt City's growing momentum before it becomes a juggernaut.

City will go into the game without the suspended Adebayor and crocked Robinho. Don't be surprised if Tevez figures at some point. The Argentinian defence terroriser will be hell bent on making an appearance and inflicting much pain on old whiskey-soaked Baconface. Bellamy is expected to lead the line, with support from a five man midfield of Barry, Ireland, De Jong, SWP and Petrov/Zab, which should be more than a match for our hosts.

Man Ure's manager and players are waffling a hell of a lot about MCFC in the media this week, a sure sign that the blue revolution has 'em rattled! The cracks are there for all to see and the evil empire is beginning to crumble under a tide of blue. Tevez saw the the error of his ways and defected, the 'show pony' trotted off to Madrid, a number of players are on the decline, the new recruits ain't pulling up no trees and their stand-in keeper looks out of his depth.

The Plastic Mancunians are there for the taking.

Emmanuel : Shafted Part 1

The FA today fast-tracked a 3-match ban for Emmanuel Abebayor for violent conduct. The striker will now miss Man Yoo away, the Carling Cup tie against Fulham and the home Premiership game against the Hammers.

The ban is for stamping on Robin van Persie during the Saturday encounter with the Gooners. Adebayor's foot made contact with the arse's face. The referee didn't see it however. Mark Clattenburg was right next to the incident, looking in the direction of the said offence, but repeat, he didn't see it. Neither did his assistants. Very odd.

While Adebayor's stamp was unpleasant and should be chargeable, the FA is inconsistent to say the least with its procedure of retrospective punishment. What about other recent incidents of controversy? Punches, elbows, headbutts and foulmouthed abuse have all occurred and are commonplace, but they're continually overlooked so in effect deemed legal. All we want is consistency and an even playing field.

Coming soon..... Emmanuel : Shafted Part 2. The FA will decide the punishment of Adebayor after he dared celebrate his goal on the field of play in a spot of his choice. OK, so he ran the length of the pitch to enjoy the moment in the vicinity of the away support, but no one asked a minority of Arsenal supporting dimwits to chant vile abuse, hurl objects and assault stewards. No way should they be allowed to escape a ban for their disgusting behaviour, but escape the wrath of the police and of their club they probably will. And is there any mention in the press of van Persie screaming expletives in the direction of City fans after scoring his equaliser? Of course not as the City fans didn't 'riot' so the papers had no desire to report enthusiastically on this unsavory event. The ref didn't see that particular incident and the FA were looking the other way. Or did we just imagine it?

Let it be known that the FA board of directors includes Ian Watmore (Chief Executive and Arsenal supporter) and David Gill (Man Yoo's Chief Executive). Would it be unfair to say that it's in the interest of these men that Ade's punishment be both severe and prompt?

So we go into the Man Yoo game without the services Adebayor and Robinho. Tevez is also likely to be missing. Victory is therefore gonna taste even sweeter!

Adebayor v Arsenal

It's a beautiful cloudless day in Manchester for a game that is hotly anticipated by fans and media alike. The Super Blues welcome Arsenal to Manchester for a match that will give the first indication as to whether City can challenge the big boys.

Approaching the COMS the atmosphere is building nicely though we do encounter one sorry bunch of Arsensal supporters who wish to antagonise their City counterparts by singing obscene 'Adebayor' chants. Those chants would continue throughout the match and Adebayor would have quite an eventful day to say the least. The teams are announced over the loudspeakers and guess which individuals get the loudest cheer? Yes that's right, Toure and Adebayor!

The game is underway with Arsenal dominating the early possession and looking the superior outfit. City slowly get into the game and on 20 minutes grab the lead. Barry swings in a free kick for Richards to head the ball past the grasping Almunia only for the ball to hit the upright, back onto the keeper's bonce and into the onion bag. Woop woop!

City then start to dictate play with Barry and Bellamy showing some good touches and threat respectively. De Jong is having a riot. Ireland seems off his game - maybe carrying an injury. Things aren't quite happening for SWP either, who isn't getting any change at all from the excellent Clichy. Adebayor's every involvement sparks abuse from an element of the travelling support.

Arsenal end the half on the front foot with City having to resort to hitting them on the break, though we're struggling to get numbers in support of Adebayor.

Half Time : Man City 1 - Arsenal 0

Time for a pie. Chicken Balti is the pie of choice today. A touch on the salty side, though the pastry is firm, the chicken tender and the balti sauce of good consistency and flavour. Recommended. Sadly the same can't be said of the meat based beverage known as Bovril. Weak and tepid. Come on City sort it!

The second half sees Arsenal eager to get on level terms, though City's defence especially the brilliant Shay are just about holding firm.

The Gunners introduce Rosicky to the fold and it's not long before the game is all square. Lescott's challenge on Van Persie isn't the best, which enables the Dutchman to regain possession and smash a low shot into the bottom corner. This isn't good. Arsenal are in the ascendancy and City's composure looks shot. Keep the faith! The crowd respond and Toure encourages his men. We can do this!

And in true City style the team does respond. It really is difficult to fathom out City sometimes. The spring in the step returns, as does the team's shape, composure and passing crispness. It isn't long until we've got 'em on the back foot. SWP feeds Richards down the right for him to beat the covering defender and lay it off to Bellamy to make it 2-1 in the 74th minute. Chaos then ensues, some Gooner fans try and get on the pitch, an assortment of objects (bottles, coins, food and garden furniture!) are thown in the direction of our goal-per-game striker, the nearby stewards struggle to cope with the surge and the fuzz wade in with glee. As Adebayor is wiping the build up of dirt from his kness and tucking into a free burger (he don't like gerkins!) the ref duly brandishes a yellow card on our bemused heroic trouble causing drama queen. That was frickin' hilarious! The media are going to have a field day no doubt.

This second half is turning into a classic. City grab their 4th goal by hitting the opposition on the break with Bellamy laying off a pass perfecto for SWP to chip the ball over the advancing Almunia in the 84th minute. City then stop playing and Rosicky gets Arsenal's second with 2-minutes of normal time left. 4-minutes of extra time are shown and worryingly Arsenal are creating plenty of chances and the game somehow doesn't seem safe! We hold out though and claim the victory. To further fuel the rage of the visiting supporters the man of the match is awarded to the one and only Mr. Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor (De Jong got ManTwitty's vote, closely followed by Bellamy and Richards). What a game!

Man City v Arsenal Preview

Today's game should be a cracker. Two teams in fine form and with points to prove. Arsenal will want to avenge the 3-0 mauling of last season and banish from their memory the 1-2 defeat at The Swamp a fortnight ago. City on the other hand will want to demonstrate that competing with the big boys is a serious possibility this season.

Tevez will be sidelined with a knee strain and we're sure to miss his endeavour. City will need to stifle Arsenal's excellent passing game if we are to succeed. That's why ManTwitty would like to see De Jong start the game for added defensive protection and midfield bite.

Gooner old boys Toure and Adebayor will be hell bent on ensuring that their former employers leave Manchester once again with nil points. Toure is going to have to marshal the back line well if City are to secure yet another clean sheet. Adebayor meanwhile will look to continue his goal-per-game ratio by breaching the Arsenal defence, which is looking solid with the new centre-back partnership of Gallas and Vermaelen.

Arsenal are set to bring back Fabregas, whilst Rosicky could make the bench after a long lay off. To the dismay of Wenger, impish play maker Arshavin will miss the game after aggravating an injury during the midweek Russia match.

The forecast is for fine weather, which means Robinho is likely to turn on his samba magic for this home encounter. This is assuming he overcomes the thigh injury sustained on international duty.

Expected City Team - see image on right. Replace Robinho with Bellamy if the Brazilian is unfit.

Nedum Onuoha is once again being targeted by the Nigerian national team to represent West Africans. Although Nedum has captained the England under-21’s, a recent FIFA rule change would allow him to play for the Nigerian first team as he hasn’t won a full England cap.

Nedum was born in Nigeria and holds dual nationality. The Super Eagles made an initial approach two years ago for his services, but their proposal was turned down.

Will Nigeria’s latest advances be successful? With the World Cup carrot dangling on the horizon it must be tempting. Surely he will have ambitions to play for England, but is the 1st team beyond his capabilities in the short-term?

Be A City Busker

Man City fans are by their very nature a talented bunch, which MCFC recognises and wishes to take advantage of. City's Social Media Executive Chris Nield has asked ManTwitty to pass on this message to you good folks.

The club are on the lookout for buskers and acoustic acts to perform outside the City of Manchester Stadium before City home games this season. In conjunction with the Umbro Playlist they need four acts each matchday to entertain the crowds as they arrive at the ground. Chosen artists will be asked to perform for approximately an hour before kick-off and will also receive a pair of tickets to the match. Fine reward you'll surely agree! Any money collected through busking will be given to one of the clubs’ associated charities.

Buskers are required for the Arsenal game on September 12th and the subsequent home games.

So, if you’re an acoustic act, guitarist, singer, violinist, human beatbox... anything musical, please do get in touch by emailing City at mcfc@mcfc.co.uk with ‘MCFC Buskers’ as the subject.

Man Yoo are seriously weakened, losing their best player to us and their second best to Real Madrid. Liverpool have lost their play maker, their defence is slow and their bench looks average at best. Although Arsenal have started the season playing some great stuff, you have to question if they have the necessary strength in depth. Chelsea would appear to be the team to topple and favourites for the title. They have desire, strength, skill and experience in abundance. If City finish above the Chavs then surely the title will be ours.

Salmon Like Adebayor Scores Again

Man City maintained their rather impressive start to the season by thrashing a sorry Portsmouth one-nil at Fratton Park this afternoon.

Adebayor grabbed his 3rd goal in three appearances and boy what a majestic goal. Barry floated in a superb corner in the 30th minute for Ade to leap like a salmon on steroids to power the ball home.

City were dominating possession and Richards thought he'd doubled City's lead after a fine cross from Bellamy, only for the linesman to raise his flag for Barry being offside. Strange.

City should have been out of sight and the game secure, but Pompey created a late chance and almost grabbed the equaliser only for Nugent to blast the ball against Given with the goal gaping.

Full Time : Portsmouth 0 - City 1

So City remain unbeaten, as does our super shot-stopper Shay. Tougher tests will soon follow. Arsenal at home then Man Yoo at the Theatre of Prawns. We will soon know how good this current team is. Bring it on!

City will adorn their stylish 3rd strip for the Sunday encounter away at Portsmouth this weekend.

Robbie certainly cuts a dash with the retro sash, that kit's gonna be an all-time smash.

The strip will also be worn for the games at Everton and Chelsea in January and February respectively.
